Fourth vessel joins Grimaldi service

The Grimaldi group has strengthened its ro-ro service between Trieste and Gemport by adding a fourth vessel, the 'Eurocargo Roma' (pictured), aiming to meet rising demand. From 4 October, the 250-unit ship will operate four regular weekly sailings, joining the 'Eco Malta', 'Eco Mediterranea' and 'Eco Salerno'. These hybrid vessels each carry over 500 trailers and cut CO₂ emissions per cargo unit by 50%, achieving zero emissions during port stays according to Grimaldi.

Grimaldi has also added Patras to its Trieste–Patras–Ambarli service, creating a link between Italy, Greece and Türkiye. The Patras call, part of Grimaldi’s 'motorways of the sea' initiative, enables connections via Venice and Bari, linking southern and northern Italy to Türkiye. Operated with the 'eco series' fleet, the expanded routes aim to enhance sustainable logistics across the Mediterranean. (js)
