How did Group 7 flatten the curve?

At the German logistics congress in Berlin, managing director Günther Jocher explained how his company, the Munich-headquartered Spedition Group 7, has weathered the corona crisis so far. The company's five-point strategy focused on a quick adjustment to the changed needs of the market.

"By transporting a total of 31 million sets of medical protective equipment we were able to set off the slump in sales in other sectors such as automotive and textiles," Jocher said.

A digital dialogue with the customers, a strengthened team spirit among the employees - Jocher has deliberately decided not to introduce short-time work – increased sales activity, continued investments such as the building of a new logistics centre in Hamburg, and an accelerated digitalisation process are other key elements for the recipe for success.

According to Jocher, a policy of investment in new projects and acquisitions had paid off in 2008/2009, since the company was able to generate a 65% rise in turnover in 2010. (sh)
