How to support startups in Hamburg’s digital hub?
Germany’s federal ministry for economic affairs and energy has set up a digital hub initiative in Hamburg and Dortmund to promote digital industry hubs.
The Logistik-Initiative Hamburg association and the Nordakademie Graduate School have now assessed the current state of the logistics startup scene and developed strategies for taking action.
The project team held an online survey and interviewed 15 experts. Recommendations for startups include, inter alia, advice about financing problems, as well as about product and patent issues. A “nice to have” would be a digital logistics campus where work, life and social spaces can be integrated into a digital hub.
However, students made it clear that these measures will only have a chance of succeeding when the positioning, products and sales activities of the logistics startups are intensively promoted. This modus operandi is the only way that fledgling companies will be able to cope with strong international competition. (kd)
