HTS and RWG bundle freight to cut transit times
Persistent congestion in Western European ports is leading to new initiatives. The logistics service provider HTS Intermodaal and the RWG deepsea terminal have formed a collaboration to bundle freight on the route between Duisburg (Germany), and Gorinchem and the port of Rotterdam (both Netherlands).
The cooperation means that ships in the terminals in Duisburg and in Rotterdam’s deepsea container terminals combine and bundle their shipments for the respective destination terminal in both directions.
This modus operandi reduces the time that cargo remains in the port and inland shipping vessels are no longer obliged to sail to several deepsea terminals on the Maasvlakte before containers can be transported to the hinterland and vice versa.
To fulfil this initiative, RWG and HTS have signed far-reaching operational agreements. (kd)
