Hutchison starts upgrade at Tin

Hutchison Ports Best has started expansion works at the intermodal terminal of Navarra (Tin) in Noain, investing around EUR 10 million to improve and enlarge the northern Spanish site.

The project, launched ten days ago, on 12 May, will nearly triple the terminal’s footprint to 42,000 sqm and add two new 550 m rail tracks, along with a larger yard for train handling and container storage. Best secured a 15-year operating concession from Adif in September 2024. Part of the investment will fund the replacement of diesel reach stackers with fully electric ones, supporting decarbonisation goals.

According to Best CEO Guillermo Belcastro, the development will enhance connectivity for shippers in northern Spain and southern France, linking them more efficiently to over 200 global ports via Barcelona and strengthening the resilience of supply chains. (ah)
