Hydrogen also in Rotterdam

According to a study on the development of hydrogen import terminals in Rotterdam, which was conducted by the port operator, a number of terminals will be technically equipped for the import, storage, treatment and transit of hydrogen by 2025.

Other component studies estimate that European demand for this relatively clean energy source will reach around 20 million t by 2050, of which 18 million t will be imported.

In Rotterdam, the experience gained in the industrial use of hydrogen and ammonia, for example, and the transhipment of cold energy gases such as LNG (liquid natural gas) or chemicals such as methanol, will simplify the handling of liquid hydrogen or organic carriers (liquid organic hydrogen carriers - LOHC).
