Icao underlines air cargo's key role for economic growth
Icao, the UN agency for aviation, recently held its second air cargo development forum in Zhengzhou. The Chinese city and the Henan Province governments supported the event in recognition of the region’s tremendous growth of air cargo and e-commerce activities.
One of the key messages conveyed by Icao secretary general Dr Fang Liu was that airfreight volumes will grow at a healthy rate of 4.2% annually through to 2032, but only if current air cargo modernization continues to be robustly and cooperatively pursued by governments and industry.
Other speakers such as Tiaca's secretary general Vladimir Zubkov and Turhan Özen, chief cargo officer of Turkish Airlines, participated in the conference which was entitled "Shaping the Future of Air Cargo". (ah)
