Intermodal Wuhan–Ningbo sea-rail train introduced
China Railways Wuhan has launched a rail-sea multimodal container train from Wuhan to the Chinese port of Ningbo-Zhoushan, one of the starting points of the maritime silk road. The first trains have already run on the 1,118 km line.
The railway company plans to operate the Wuhan–Ningbo sea-rail intermodal train regularly once a week. The train will run at 80 km/h and the journey will take around 20 hours. China Railways Wuhan has introduced the new intermodal service to facilitate transport on the maritime silk road and the export of goods made in Wuhan to other countries, as well as to boost the development of the local economy.
