JAL's budget subsidiary launches as cargo-only carrier

Established two years ago as medium and long distance LCC by Japan Airlines (JAL), Zipair Tokyo submitted an application to the Japanese ministry of land, infrastructure, transport and tourism for the launch of cargo-only flights between Tokyo NRT and Bangkok from today, 3 June 2020.

Based on the global impact of the novel coronavirus, Zipair Tokyo's launch of passenger flights has been temporarily postponed. As airlines continue to suspend flights, there is a growing demand for air cargo services.

Zipair Tokyo, which will implement freighter codeshare flights with JAL, therefore announced the plan to launch cargo-only flights utilising the carrier's B787-8 between Japan and Thailand four times per week. (ah)
