Japan Post aims to become a 3PL

Japan Post has agreed to acquire a 19.9% stake in Logisteed Holdings, formerly Hitachi Transport System, from investment fund KKR, forming a capital and business alliance with Logisteed and its subsidiary Logisteed Ltd. The move supports Japan Post’s strategy to become a fully integrated logistics provider covering last-mile delivery, domestic transport and global forwarding.

Combining Japan Post’s strong domestic B2B and delivery network with Logisteed’s global 3PL and logistics-DX capabilities, the partners plan to create synergies through shared customer bases, joint use of facilities and staff exchanges.

Logisteed CEO Yasuo Nakatani said the alliance would build "a robust and sustainable logistics foundation" in Japan and abroad. Closing is expected after competition-law clearance in December 2025. (ah)
