Kick-off for the Rail Baltica construction in Estonia

The first cornerstone of Rail Baltica in Estonia has been laid by the start of the construction of the Saustinomme viaduct in the north of the country. The viaduct crosses the main route of Rail Baltica.

Various intersections between Rail Baltica’s future high-speed link and the existing infrastructure will be built in the coming years, including the construction of highway bypasses, relocation of high-voltage lines and gas pipelines, and so on.

The project aims to integrate the Baltic States into the European rail network. Once completed, Rail Baltica will connect Helsinki (Finland), Tallinn and Pärnu in Estonia, Riga in Latvia, Panevezys, Kaunas, Vilnius in Lituania as well as Warsaw in Poland. (ben)
