Kombiverkehr takes over Duisburg terminal

On 1 January 2026 the Kombiverkehr Group will take over operation of the terminal in Duisburg-Ruhrort Hafen, owned by Planungsgesellschaft Kombinierter Verkehr. After more than 20 years in operation, the site will be rebranded as 'Rail Hub Duisburg' and run by Kombiverkehr intermodal services.

"From Duisburg, more than 20 countries are rail-connected. This continental terminal is a key gateway in our European network," said Heiko Krebs, managing director of Kombiverkehr KG. He noted that the group already accounts for around 95% of volumes and can now apply its production expertise more directly, while maintaining non-discriminatory access for third parties. Covering 85,000 sqm the terminal features three cranes, eight tracks and areas for hazardous goods. A crane with a 75-t spreader will enter service in late 2025, supporting an annual capacity of 200,000 units. (js)
