Linz: Monumental chandelier parts flown to Uzbekistan

Linz airport recently handled two extraordinary airfreight operations: two Boeing 747-400F aircraft departed for Tashkent carrying large-scale parts of a monumental chandelier destined for a major mosque in Uzbekistan. The shipments were coordinated by international logistics company Cargomind on behalf of a Lower Austrian specialist in chandeliers, metal and glass structures.

The challenge was not the weight but the dimensions. The oversized elements were engineered and segmented to fit precisely into the freighters’ holds. With both 747s fully loaded, careful planning between Linz Airport, Cargomind and the operating carrier ensured smooth execution.

The high-value components were crafted with advanced machinery and detailed handwork before being secured for transport. For the Austrian airport, the project highlights its role in supporting regional industry and managing complex cultural cargo.
