LNG instead of diesel
The German forwarding company F.A. Kruse is lightening its carbon footprint by adding four Volvo FH LNG trucks to its fleet. The company is the country’s first forwarder to deploy Volvo trucks powered by liquid natural gas. The first of these HGVs was recently delivered to the company’s HQ in Brunsbüttel.
In addition to their eco-friendliness, Friedrich A. Kruse said that savings in both fuel and road charges were behind the move. Germany does not levy toll charges on LNG trucks for the first two years. This will pay off as the trucks will operate in shifts between Brunsbüttel and the port of Hamburg. (ben)
