LNG tanker on course for Baltic Sea

A keel-laying ceremony was recently held for Elenger’s LNG tanker at the Damen Yichang Shipyard. The event included the Dutch tradition of welding three coins onto the first section of the vessel’s keel for good luck.

With a 6,000 sqm capacity, the new tanker will play its role facilitating the use of LNG by providing a ship-to-ship distribution service for all kinds of LNG vessels in the Baltic region.

Following sea trials in spring 2020, the ship will arrive in Estonia in summer 2020, and start serving LNG clients in autumn. It will carry out bunker activities at designated locations both in and outside ports.

Elenger currently uses road tankers to refuel Tallink’s LNG-powered megastar ferry, which runs between Tallinn and Helsinki. (kd)
