Logistics solution for food supplier
Netherlands-based Vanderlande, a specialist for value-added logistic process automation, recently received a significant order from the Dutch fresh food supplier Van Gelder.
According to the contract, Vanderlande will install a state-of-the-art automated solution at Van Gelder’s new facilities in Ridderkerk, near Rotterdam. The 30,000 sqm site will be used for the storage, sortation and distribution of fruit and vegetable products, as well as acting as the company’s innovation centre.
Alongside 92 Adapto shuttles that serve over 52,000 tray storage locations, the automation expert will deliver goods-to-person packing stations and automated case picking (ACP) technology.
Van Gelder’s new centre will also house high-bay pallet storage systems with multiple temperature zones for almost 4,000 pallets. Construction work is expected to be completed in Q3/2019. (mw)
