Long Beach harbour commission seeks new president
Long Beach City Council has stripped harbour commission president Thomas Fields of his office after allegations of excessive travel expenses. The Californian city's council voted 6-3 to confirm the removal of Fields who had been in office since 2009 and who had been severely criticised for the cost of his international travel. Chief critic was Long Beach mayor Bob Foster.
Some observers fear that the replacement of Fields might result in economical harm for the city of Long Beach. Fields, who has just been interviewed by the ITJ, said that he will continue to advocate for the city of Long Beach. The interview is in the forthcoming ITJ issue 47-48/2013 that will appear on 22 November. A successor of Fields has not yet been named.
