Making horses fly in even lighter stalls
VRR has unveiled a new version of its collapsible HML/HMR horse stall, designed to cut weight, improve handling and boost comfort without compromising reliability.
The upgraded stall features lighter materials that lower fuel burn and ease ground operations, faster fold-down mechanisms, sliding groom doors and wider ramps to enhance safety and usability. Fully collapsible and certified for use on wide-body aircraft such as the A350 and 777FX, the stall continues to prioritise equine welfare with ventilation, vibration-dampening flooring and secure partitions.
By reducing weight and optimising repairability, the new model supports lower emissions and costs during repositioning, with potential CO₂ savings of up to 20% compared to the previous version. VRR emphasised that the redesign reflects its broader focus on sustainability and innovation in air cargo solutions. (ah)
