MAN and Vega electrify logistics

MAN Truck & Bus has partnered with Vega International to implement an innovative intermodal logistics solution that combines rail transport and fully electric trucks for vehicle delivery. This new approach significantly reduces CO2 emissions, achieving annual savings of about 2,700 t. MAN plans to expand the use of MAN eTGX electric trucks, initially deploying two and intending to add 30 to 40 more by the end of 2026. Every week, the eTGX trucks transport 30 to 40 new vehicles within a 300 km radius from the Vega rail terminal in Rheine, utilising zero-emission electric power.

The rail transport begins from the MAN production facility in Krakow, Poland, effectively keeping the entire transport route electric and environmentally friendly. Since the project launched in June 2023, over 11,000 trucks have been transported via train, resulting in significant CO2 reductions. Vega aims to achieve CO2-free logistics by 2030, investing heavily in electric truck fleets and charging infrastructure, while exploring hydrogen technology to further enhance sustainability in commercial vehicle logistics.
