Matthijs van Doorn takes seat on BDB board

Matthijs van Doorn, the port of Rotterdam’s logistics manager, has been awarded a seat of the board of Germany’s federal association of inland navigation (BDB). He is the first Dutchman to become a BDB board member.

Van Doorn stated: "The port of Rotterdam has expanded due in part to inland shipping. Our seat on the BDB board shows how important the port is for inland shipping and underscores how important Germany, in Europe’s hinterland, is for us.

Membership of the BDB will promote transnational cooperation on cross-border issues that are important for inland shipping – namely - sustainability, digitalisation, low water level problems and congestion. "(mw)
