Modalis and Dunkerque port launch new terminal

The Modalis Group and Dunkerque port have laid the first stone of a EUR 25 m intermodal rail terminal, marking a significant step towards low-carbon logistics. This facility will connect Dunkerque to major European industrial hubs via rail, aiming to transfer 50,000 transport units annually from road to rail, avoiding 70,000 t of CO2 emissions. Operational by spring 2026, the terminal will facilitate long-distance transport of trailers and mobile units, enhancing competitiveness and supporting energy transition in the Hauts-de-France region.

This modern terminal, to be built on 9.6 ha, will feature facilities for four 750-m freight trains and large storage capacity for over 600 transport units. It supports the European green deal and France's logistics strategy by prioritising railfreight development. This collaboration exemplifies the commitment to sustainable mobility, generating jobs and contributing to local decarbonisation efforts while reinforcing Dunkerque's industrial attractiveness.
