More room for trucks at Munich airport

Changes in the infrastructure of the cargo area at Munich airport (Germany) are expected for November 2019. In order to meet increasing demand in this growing segment, a 25,000 sqm parking area for up to 115 trucks will be built in the southwestern part of the airport.

This area will be used as a reserve waiting space for those trucks whose agreed time for loading or unloading their cargo cannot be met. The trucks will be given a central parking slot so that they do not cause additional obstruction to traffic in the cargo handling area.

Furthermore, drivers will be able to take their obligatory rest periods in this area. Sanitary facilities will be provided. There will be a telematics program to control to the new parking area, and a system to manage the inflow of trucks into the cargo area is also planned. (ah)
