MSC launches new transatlantic services from Bilbao
Starting 20 December, the Port of Bilbao will welcome two new weekly direct container services by MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company, connecting northern Europe to the west coast of south America. This new service is a significant milestone for the port, enhancing its role as a strategic logistics hub. As the last Iberian port and penultimate European stop before south America, Bilbao will provide unmatched transit times for exports and imports, operating with the largest container ships it has received to date.
Additionally, a direct service between Bilbao and Halifax will launch on 22 December, featuring an approximate two-week transit time. This connection improves access to north American markets, supporting economic growth in the region. Ivan Jimenez, president of the Bilbao port authority, expressed pride in these developments, highlighting the new opportunities for local industries and the collaboration with MSC that enhances the port's competitive edge and fosters sustainable economic development.
