New container train to link Cologne and Hamburg

In Germany, CTS Container Terminal and IGS Intermodal Container Logistics have launched a new container train connection between Cologne and the ports of Hamburg and Bremerhaven.

With the new shuttle train, the port of Cologne-Niehl is now linked up with all the major seaports on the North Sea - Hamburg, Bremerhaven, Antwerp (Belgium) and Rotterdam (Netherlands) - , says CTS, which belongs to the HGK group.

To begin with, the new train will run three times a week in both directions. Rhein Cargo, which already operates regular rail services for bulk cargo between the Rhineland and the port of Hamburg, will be responsible for traction. (ben)
