New generation of PCTC for UECC

The Norwegian shipping company United European Car Carriers (UECC) will construct two new generation PCTC for China Ship Building Trading and Jiangnan Shipyard Group. The contract also includes an option for two further vessels. The first vessel is planned for delivery in 2021.

In order to meet IMO’s target for a 40% reduction in carbon intensity by 2030, the ships will be equipped with a battery hybrid LNG solution. They will be 169 m long, 28 m wide and have a car carrying capacity of 3,600 units on ten cargo decks, of which two decks can be hoisted. Thus they will be fit for a multitude of high & heavy and break-bulk mafi cargoes.

The ships will have a quarter ramp of 160 t safe working load and a side ramp of 20 t safe working load for cargo units up to 5.2 m high. The vessels will meet the Tier 3 IMO NOx emission limitations coming into force for the Baltic and the North Sea from 2021. (kd)
