New generation traction for France and Belgium
The French railfreight operator VFLI and leasing company Alpha Trains have ordered the first twelve Euro 4001 diesel-electric locomotives and the Eurodual prototype dual mode locomotive from the Swiss manufacturer Stadler Rail.
Both types of traction are part of a new generation of six-axle locomotives that Stadler developed at its plant in Valencia (Spain) for the European market. VFLI will deploy all the new units in France and Belgium.
The Eurodual unit, which has high performance electric and diesel engines, is also equipped with a state-of-the-art adhesion control system so that the locomotive can haul longer and heavier trains. (ben)
