New locos for Swedish railfreight operators
Green Cargo recently took delivery of the first of two new Transmontana locomotives from the Romanian manufacturer Softronic in the Swedish city of Eskilstuna. The 6MV of the electrically-operated six-axled engines means they offer twice the performance of conventional engines, thus enabling more efficient, secure and cost-effective railfreight operations.
The state-owned Swedish railfreight enterprise Green Cargo ordered the Transmontana locomotives after tests held in July 2017. In April it added four more engines to the order. the new units will be deployed by Green Cargo to provide 300 t railway transport solutions. (ben)
