New Portuguese partnership expands Europa’s reach in Europe

Europa Road has established a co-operation with the Portuguese transport company Torrestir that will handle distribution for Europa across Portugal, as well as provide the line-haul in both directions between UK and Portugal. Torrestir and Europa Road will commence the service with four departures per week between Dartford (UK) and Portugal, and three departures per week between Portugal and Dartford.

Privately-owned Torrestir, established in 1962, undertakes 5.2 million deliveries per year across fashion, pharmaceutical, automotive and technology sectors. Employing 1,700 staff with a fleet of 1,110 vehicles, Torrestir provides over 30,000 sqm of storage space with a capacity for more than 37,000 pallets.

Dan Cook, operations director, Europa Worldwide Group says: “Portugal is not the largest market for the UK, but the economy is strong, enjoying good levels of economic growth largely thanks to a strong manufacturing base. Historically, Portugal was a market with many specialists, but we must ensure that our overall European product is strong and comprehensive, by working with the best partners in each country." (mw)
