New tool helps plan intermodal transports

In Germany, Bremen’s port railway has introduced the electronic application “railway.tools” supplied by DB Netz. The software helps transport logistics companies and freight forwarders to plan their intermodal transport projects combining road haulage and railfreight.

The interactive map offers a transparent survey of access options to initial, main and follow-up routes in the European intermodal network. All public container terminals connected to the European rail network are shown with the corresponding direct and non-direct conditions and their operators. Moreover, users can call up all available first and last mile road haulage services. (ben)
