New trucks to cut costs – in more ways than one
The German transport service provider Alfred Schuon has invested in 15 new ultralight jumbo vehicles.
The trucks with their interior height of 3.15 m, are suitable for carrying high, stackable light goods and are used, inter alia, by a customer in the packaging industry. That client can now load 33% more goods and thereby axe one in four truck runs.
The ultra-light vehicles have another advantage: with their maximum payload of 8.25 t, their truck toll category will be favourable, particularly from 1 January 2019, when Germany increases its HGV road charging system and extends it to all federal trunk roads. (mw)
