Northern latitudinal railway project goes ahead
The last documents for submission and the start of construction of the northern latitudinal railway in the Ural Federal District of Russia have been completed, according to Russian Railways (RZD).
Construction work on the more than 350 km of rail track is scheduled for 2018 to 2023. The line is expected to carry some 23.9 million t of goods per year – most of which will be gas condensate and oil products.
RZD will carry out the reconstruction of the adjacent sections of the Konosh - Kotlas - Chum - Labytnangi stretch of track, and the Pangody - Novy Urengoy - Korotchaevo railway line. Gazprom will complete the construction and commissioning of its own 104 km Nadym - Pangody railway line. (ben)
