Nova Marine expands reach

Nova marine carriers has entered the Oceania market through a joint venture with New Zealand’s McCallum bros. The partnership will provide transport between New Zealand and the Chatham Islands, replacing the ageing Southern Tiare according to the company. The 50/50 venture was awarded a government tender to secure island supplies. At the centre of the project is a multipurpose vessel designed in Lugano with Rina. The ship will carry containers, fuel, vehicles and livestock.

The new vessel is expected to begin operations in 2027. "Certainly, the joint venture with McCallum Bros marks, even psychologically, a turning point for our group", stated Vincenzo Romeo, CEO of Nova marine carriers. "We believe that our presence in the South Pacific, so far from 'home' also sends a signal of a company ready for new challenges, in a market for us without borders", added the CEO of the switzerland based company.
