Oesterreichische Post building new logistics centre near Linz

Austria’s mail service provider Oesterreichische Post recently held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new, around EUR 50 million logistics centre in Allhaming, near Linz. The village of Allhaming has proven to be a suitable new location for around 650 post office employees. The 82,000 sqm tract of land is located next to a motorway, thus offering ideal connections to transport routes. The new complex, which will be equipped to process 1.6 million letters and 100,000 parcels per day, is to be completed and begin operations in September 2014. All postal items from most of Upper Austria and parts of Lower Austria will be sorted in Allhaming in future. www.post.at
