OOCL also going strong

Like most of the maritime carriers worldwide, the Hong Kong-based Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) reported positive results for Q3/2020 despite the Covid-19 pandemic. Overall average revenue per teu increased by 6.2% compared to Q3/2019.

Volumes also took a significant rise with 9.5% in comparison to Q3/2019. Main drivers were the trans-Atlantic loops (+22.6% jump), which reached almost 142,000 teu. Volumes on the recently highly-praised trans-Pacific rose by 11.1% to more than 586,000 teu.

Altogether, OOCL shipped 1.94 million teu in Q3, up 8.2% from the 1.78 million teu in Q3/2019. Revenues were also on the uptick with USD 1.91 billion. (cd)
