Pilot train run from Finland to India

The first container block train from Finland bound for the Indian port of Nava Sheva has departed from Helsinki. The block train service via the international north-south transport corridor is operated by a JV of Russian Railways Logistics (RZDL), ADY Container and Tarkib Haml-o-Naghl.

The train passing through Russia, Azerbaijan and Iran consists of 32 containers, loaded with paper-based products. The movement of freight trains within this corridor may become regular, Ady Container said. The containers will be conveyed to the port of Nava Sheva by multimodal transport – rail, road and ship.

The container block train on this corridor will significantly shorten transit times compared to maritime transport. Overall, the block train will travel 7,200 km. (ben)
