Polish-Italian alliance to develop railfreight traffic
Mercitalia and the Poland-based PKP Group have signed an agreement to develop railfreight traffic between Italy and Poland. The alliance will also allow increasingly more reliable and efficient rail transport services on the Baltic-Adriatic Ten-T rail corridor.
In the coming months, a working group will declare the principles of cooperation so that innovative freight transport solutions can be designed as soon as possible.
According to FS Italiana, Mercitalia will collaborate intensively with the PKP Group to develop new services for the strongly growing intermodal transport sector to/from the port of Trieste (Italy), as well as services for conventional traffic. (ben)
