The publisher Tech.co spoke to spoke with 521 logistics professionals to gain insights into the sector’s current trajectory.
The resulting ‘Logistics Report 2025’ reveals that 63% of logistics firms have experienced rising freight demand, with 85% operating nearly at full capacity. However, 69% report that driver shortages are impacting service delivery and 45% cite a lack of qualified applicants as the top hiring challenge.
Drivers point to low pay, long hours and job instability as barriers. In response, 79% of companies have adjusted their strategies, with 73% adopting new technological approaches, including route optimisation, driver coaching, fleet tracking and fuel-saving tools.
Only 10% of respondents reported using autonomous trucks and 70% still prefer human drivers. A gap persists between logistics managers and owners – 63% of managers have already changed their business model, due to tech adoption, while only 48% of owners have followed suit.
