Rail facility to reduce CO2 by 18,300 t per year

The USD 149 million GCT Bayonne ExpressRail facility in Port Jersey (USA) is completed. It supports the port’s cargo growth and has an annual capacity of 250,000 container lifts.

GCT Bayonne’s ondock intermodal facility is connected to the two US class I railroad networks CSX and Norfolk Southern and allows seamless transfer of cargo from ship to rail. Every container moved at GCT Bayonne ExpressRail Port Jersey replaces 1.5 truck trips.

Over the lifetime of the intermodal facility, the switch from truck to rail is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 18,300 t annually. (ben)
