Rail hub for Novorossiysk

Maersk has opened its first Russian inland container depot (ICD) in Novorossiysk. The hub adds needed storage/cross-dock capacity to relieve strained supply chains.

Novorossiysk is the largest port on the Black Sea and one of Russia’s biggest export hubs and gateways, serving the entire country. Located 10 km away from the port, Maersk´s ICD operates two rail services covering a total of 570 m. It contains facilities for the handling of fertilisers and other liquid cargoes as well as general and palletised cargo.

The hub is a key pivot point for the management of supply chains. Spread across three hectares, it can store 1,500 containers (teu) and is expected to generate an annual throughput of 25,000 containers, Maersk said. (ben)
