Renault Trucks growing fast in Europe
Renault Trucks reported increases in sales and key figures in 2017. The company sold 49,930 vehicles in all, 4% more than in 2016, while the volume rose by 7% in the 6 t+ vehicle market.
The French company is active at home, as well as mainly in Africa and the Middle East. Volumes there sank by 4% to 4,886 units last year. This was due to the introduction of import quotas in Algeria.
In contrast, the truck maker was able to boost its volume in Turkey by 40%, partially because of the four new sales and service centres that were opened in Izmir, Istanbul, Denizli and Ankara in 2017.
In Iran, Renault Trucks renewed its cooperation with Arya Diesel Motors for the import of the T, C, K HGV series and assembly of T series units. On top of that, the company introduced its T, C and K product lines in Chile.
This year, Renault Trucks will focus on rolling out a range of electric trucks and build an assembly line for these zero-emission vehicles at its Blainville-sur-Orne plant (France). (mw)
