Sky Canoe drone for remote cargo supply

The German engine manufacturer Sky Power International has equipped Sky Canoe’s new Nimkii 42-S unmanned cargo aircraft with its SP-55 FI TS ROS propulsion system.

The Canadian indigenous-owned manufacturer designed the drone specifically for long-range missions in remote areas, enabling the delivery of essential cargo over distances of up to 350 km. With a payload capacity of 9.2 kg, the Nimkii 42-S is tailored to transport food, medicine and supplies to northern communities that lack regular infrastructure.

Operating at speeds of 101 km/h with an endurance of 3.5 hours, the aircraft can access short runways or unprepared strips, making it suitable for last-mile delivery in isolated regions. Its secure communication link and detect-and-avoid technology add safety to operations, while Sky Power’s fuel-injected engine provides reliability in extreme conditions down to –35°C. Beyond community resupply, the drone offers potential for time-critical missions such as urgent spare parts or sensitive deliveries where traditional transport is too slow or costly. (ah)
