Stepping up infrastructure for up to 500 t

The Mannheim (Germany)-based heavylift specialist Kübler has been transferring large shipments from road to waterway for nearly 20 years. The company ships the bundled goods to major seaports via Mannheim’s inland port on the Rhine.

Kübler has now substantially increased the performance of its heavy goods centre by raising its hoisting capacity from 150 t to 500 t. A heavylift hall to house the new gantry crane was built at the same time, and a low-loader rail car with a 348 t carrying capacity was also constructed for forwarding by rail.

Owner and CEO Heinz Rössler explained: "Goods are getting heavier and roads weaker. We can now shift any shipment – from light cargo to a transformer weighting 500 t - between truck, train and ship.”

Interested parties are invited to Kübler’s open day and official opening of its heavylift centre at its Ruhrorterstrasse location in Mannheim from 10.00 on 20 October. (mw)
