Swissport expands freight capacity

Swissport has launched a new cargo facility, Terminal 12, at Amsterdam Schiphol, significantly expanding its capacity in Europe's airfreight market. The terminal adds 5,000 sqm of handling space, raising the total footprint to 40,000 sqm, with plans to increase this to 43,800 sqm by January 2026. Fully operational since October, Terminal 12 operates around the clock to meet rising import freight demand while enhancing reliability and efficiency.

Focusing on import shipments, the terminal improves storage and processing, optimising workflows and reducing truck waiting times. This expansion demonstrates Swissport's commitment to the Amsterdam freight community and aligns with its sustainability initiatives, including the Milk Run programme that consolidates shipments to lower emissions. The new terminal further solidifies Swissport's strategic presence in the Golden Triangle of Europe, enabling it to better serve airlines and freight forwarders while meeting growing demands in the region.
