Swissport reports 11% revenue growth
Swissport International (Swissport), a global provider of ground and cargo services to the aviation industry, reported total revenue of CHF 2.1 billion (EUR 1.7 billion) for 2013, an 11% increase compared to 2012. Last year's result reconfirms the company's position in its industry, despite challenging market conditions and unfavourable foreign exchange rates.
Compared to 2012, airfreight tonnage rose by 18.4%, reflecting the recovery of the air cargo market in 2013 vis-à-vis 2012. The main contributor to Swissport's growth was the full year impact of the Flightcare acquisition that was completed in September 2012. Notable contract wins and renewals were with Air Berlin in Zurich, and the multi-year agreement with Etihad Cargo.
