"Too many certificates, too little authority"

GDP, CEIV Pharma, CEIV Fresh and many others – what does the multitude of certificates awarded in the airfreight industry really say about the level of quality of the carrier that holds such a certificate?

In an interview with the ITJ during Air Cargo Europe at the beginning of this month in Munich (Germany), Christian Wyss, senior director, head of quality & services von Swiss WorldCargo, said: "These certificates have had a very positive effect within the airlines, but I don’t believe that they receive enough external recognition: On the one hand, they indicate a certain degree of competence, but one the other, customers or regulators sometimes want to verify everything in additional audits."

In Wyss’ personal opinion, the fact that the Iata certification does not have enough credibility constitutes a problem that must looked into. You can read the full interview in our anniversary edition ITJ 27-30/2019, published on 12 July. (ah)
