United Cargo increases capacities

United Cargo's inaugural cargo-in-cabin flight flew from London to Chicago (ORD) last week, with almost 2 t of mail in the passenger cabin, plus a full payload of freight in belly. Initially, cargo-in-cabin shipments will be loaded on B777 and B787 cargo-only flights, which until 3 June 2020 will include three weekly flights between ORD and Zurich.

Jacques Leijssenaar, VP cargo EMEIA: "We offer a comprehensive European network of cargo flights to USA, from London, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Brussels, Dublin and other airports, and now from Switzerland as well."

In Asia, the Chicago-based carrier plans to resume service between Singapore and Hong Kong. Dropped in 2017, it would launch as cargo-only, but the application for DOT permission indicates that United intends to carry passengers as well, including fifth freedom traffic. (ah)
