VPI turns spotlight on digitalisation
“Digitalisation in rail freight transport - where do we stand?" was the topic at the New Year’s assembly of the Association of freight wagon keepers in Germany (VPI).
Malte Lawrenz, the VPI chairman, said: "Businesses have realized that a collective effort from all involved players is needed for a digital transformation of the railfreight industry. They are tackling this task with “smart” wagons, wayside monitoring and data flows to clients. Now the master plan for railfreight traffic that was developed by industry players and politicians, has to be swiftly implemented."
Lawrenz also called on the industry not to slacken the digitalisation efforts and to step up collaboration. (ben)
