West Central Railways to procure drone cameras
Indian Railways is to deploy drone-mounted cameras for overseeing various activities such as project monitoring and track and other railway infrastructure maintenance. An order has been given to the country’s zonal railways to procure such cameras.
The procurement is in line with Indian Railways’ desire to use technology to enhance the safety and efficiency of train operations. West Central Railways (WCR), headquartered in Jabalpur, has become the first zonal railway to procure drones with cameras, and trial runs have already been carried out by WCR’s three divisions. (ben)
