Wisconsin modernising rail infrastructure
Eight railfreight projects in the USA will be completed with the assistance of more than USD 16 million in grants from Wisconsin's department of transport.
The department awarded a grant to Port Milwaukee to rehabilitate and construct more than 2.4 km of track within its premises. When the project is completed, intermodal freight shipping will resume.
Wisconsin Southern Railroad was awarded grants and loans for six projects to replace bridges and modernise its network rail tracks.
Furthermore, the project to install three propane tanks at the rail hub served by the Wisconsin Northern Railroad will receive financial support. (ben)
