Woolworths invests $ 1.3 bn in Sydney

Woolworths Group has opened two state-of-the-art distribution centres (DCs) in western Sydney, marking its largest-ever investment of $ 1.3 bn. Located in the Moorebank Logistics Precinct, these automated facilities will transport over 5 m cartons weekly to more than 1,000 stores across Australia, boosting product availability and speed to shelves.

The new DCs, covering 75,000 sqm, are linked to Port Botany, interstate rail and Sydney's motorways, and are expected to remove 26,000 truck movements annually from roads. They also create over 800 ongoing jobs, with 1,300 roles during construction. Both centres have achieved a 5-star Green Star rating, featuring solar power and rainwater harvesting, demonstrating Woolworths' commitment to sustainability and supply chain resilience.
